I met
Cristóbal Briceño thanks to a former high school classmate, as in April or May
2014. At that time, along with the Ases Falsos (the most media band he has ever
participated in), they were preparing to release their second album,
"Conducción".
I think one
of the things that most captivated me about him was his frenzied rhythm of
creations. In addition, some of his lyrics contain elements so everyday, but so
deep at the same time, that they end up creating something special, such as in
"Nunca se apaga", from his first band, "Fother Muckers":
“Soy el ruido de letreros de neón
el zumbido de cada una de los
tubos fluorescentes.
Soy hermano de los silos de plata
que se esparcen a oriente y
poniente de la Ruta 5”.
Despite its unquestionable quality of
interpretation and writing, I have quite a lot more critical comments about its
way of being. It can become very irritable and ironic, easily exploding at a
suspicious question. Anyway, in his solo albums he has taken great liberties,
showing that he knows what his audience wants. As he once said, he himself does
not hope and does not wish to succeed now, but, in the distant future,
according to him, they will appreciate him more or perhaps better than they do
today.
